Ricard Garcia, Domestic Data Streamers, Statement Typefaces
Teaches Web Development and Type Design
I am a type designer and coder from Barcelona. In 2015 I graduated with a BA in Graphic Design (UB) and on 2018 I moved to Den Haag to study at Type and Media (KABK) where I designed Prelude as my master’s final project (Type Directors Club certificate, 2020).
After working at Typerepublic, I fell in love with code at the KABK and started mixing design and code leading me to work at Hanzo and currently at DDS.
On 2025 I co-founded with Bodigar Mascareñas a Statement Typefaces, a foundry for retail and custom typefaces where we developed the type family for the Barcelona’s City Council.
Domestic Data Streamers was founded on the 28th of September of 2013 with a simple idea: That the world couldn’t be understood without numbers, but it wouldn’t be understood with numbers alone. We believe that any meaningful interchange of information between people needs to carry emotions and experiences to create knowledge or change.
Statement Typefaces is a type foundry founded in 2025 based on the idea of working with high quality type families for contemporary purposes. Statement has a retail catalog and has also worked on custom type projects for Donuts or the Barcelona’s City Council.
“As a designer who codes, for me working both on design and code related projects is all about building systems. How design and development can work together and reinforce each other is always on my mind, from designing typefaces to developing online tools. The goal in my type design and web development workshops is to push the projects into an speculative area to establish new possible and unexplored relationships between these two fields and Artificial Intelligence.”
