Synthetic Nostalgia is a short visual film exploring childhood memory through analogue media and saturated imagery. The VHS format acts as both narrative trigger and visual system, transforming memory into a fragmented emotional archive.
The film represents nostalgia as sensory overload rather than linear recollection. Memories appear excessive, distorted and emotionally dense. Inspired by Martin Parr: saturated primary colours, dense compositions, close proximity to subjects. VHS artefacts and colour bleeding are embedded in the image.
